Jordan Pickford has labelled Newcastle United transfer target and Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic as a ‘top player’, as the Everton goalkeeper told his England press conference.
On Friday, England and the USA will lock horns in Qatar at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Christian Pulisic will be hoping to spoil the party against some familiar faces.
On the Premier League stage, Pickford, in Everton colours, would have been used to facing Pulisic and the experienced shot-stopper labelled the Chelsea player as someone who is ‘very clinical’.

Well, Pickford will be hoping that clinical nature isn’t brought to the table when England will be looking to make it two wins from two against the USA, who recorded a 1-1 draw against Wales from their opening World Cup match.
Ahead of that game, Pickford was asked whether he studies Pulisic given that the 24-year-old is pretty comfortable in scoring with both feet.
“He’s a top player,” said Pickford. “I have played against him for a few years now at Chelsea. He’s good with both feet and very clinical. We have to be wary of him.
“But we practise on the training pitch every day. Me, Ramsdale and Pope. We are preparing for anything really.”

PULISIC KEEN ON NEWCASTLE
Whether it’s Frank Lampard in the dugout, the recently-sacked Thomas Tuchel or Graham Potter as of today, Pulisic has always struggled for regular starts at Stamford Bridge.
That’s why there was talk in the summer about the American heading for the exit door, Newcastle were mentioned back then and there are still rumours that he would be keen on that transfer in the future.
In truth, given what the Magpies are producing, many players from across Europe will start to turn their heads towards St James’ Park because this project, led by Eddie Howe and their Saudi-led ownership, is starting to reach serious heights.
