Luis Garcia says Roberto Firmino leaving Liverpool this summer is a ‘big blow’ for the club because of his importance to the team.

The 31-year-old was out-of-contract at Liverpool this summer, and rather than extend his stay on Merseyside, he headed for the exit door and he is now part of the big-money Saudi Pro League.

Former Liverpool man Garcia deems that as a negative because ‘you know something can happen every single time’ Roberto Firmino is on the field, as he told ESPN.

But with the Reds declining last season, changes needed to be made to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Firmino wasn’t the only one to head for the exit door, James Milner also left, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also a free agent, whilst Naby Keita headed back to Germany.

Either way, Garcia shared why he appreciates Firmino so much as his quick-thinking talents will no longer be on displayed at Anfield.

“Seeing Firmino leave the club, I think it’s a very big blow for the club,” said Garcia. “He’s got all that.

“He has goals and creativity. He’s a different player when he is on the field. You know something can happen every single moment he is on the ball.

“But definitely, I think Mac Allister and Szoboszlai are going to give something extra. Szoboszlai is the kind of player that can arrive in the second line. Link with the other players.

“Mac Allister will be sitting a bit more in the midfield.”

Firmino underrated

A player of touch, tease and high-class technical ability. Firmino was the prime example of, forget the numbers, just watch him sing and dance in the final third.

He was absolutely magical on the eye, his ability to drag opposition defences all over the place, find a pass not many can see and then carry the ball as softly as a parent carrying a baby.

An underrated talent during his days in the Premier League and not many can say they have won the lot during their days in England.
