Gabriele Marcotti has told ESPN that Mino Raiola has played the transfer situation surrounding Gianluigi Donnarumma ‘very, very badly’ amid rumours that the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal want to sign him.
The Italian journalist claimed that Raiola, who is Donnarumma’s agent, tried to go back to AC Milan to ‘revisit’ his contract situation, with the goalkeeper set to leave on a free this summer.
Tuttosport claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs keen on his talents – and considering that he is rated as one of the best youngsters in the world, why wouldn’t they?
Marcotti claimed he cannot see Donnarumma moving to a ‘top team’ without taking a ‘pay-cut’ of some kind.
“If Milan aren’t going to take them back and my understanding is that Raiola did say ‘hey can we revisit this?’ And Milan have so far said no,” said Marcotti.
“Then maybe his option might be signing somewhere for a year or for a couple of years. Take less money but have a very low release clause, so that if he plays well then he can move on.
“But I think, so far, it looks as though Mino Raiola, who normally plays these things very well from his perspective. Has played this one very, very badly because he’s out there and it’s hard to see how he’s going to get a top team without taking a pay cut.”

Tottenham’s goalkeeping situation is perhaps more worrying than Arsenal’s who have Bernd Leno on their books.
Leno is only 29-years-old, and whilst he ended the recent season in an indifferent manner, he has been one of Arsenal’s best performances during recent campaigns despite their struggles.
But at 34-years-old, and with Joe Hart as a back-up, Spurs need to look at their goalkeeping situation, especially given that Hugo Lloris produced more error-prone performances this season.
