Vertonghen shares what was said in Tottenham dressing room at HT against Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur were unlucky to lose against Chelsea yesterday.

Spurs ace Jan Vertonghen spoke to the club’s official website, following their disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea yesterday, and shared how there was never a point in the game where he and his teammates did not think they could still win.

Tottenham’s loss to their arch rivals has raised further questions about their ability to challenge for the Premier League title this season, with all of their home games set to be played at Wembley, despite the fact that Mauricio Pochettino’s men dominated proceedings.

And Vertonghen, 30, spoke exclusively to TottenhamHotspur.com, highlighting just how strong his side’s performance was, sharing what he and his teammates discussed at half-time:

“It’s so clear that we deserved to win this game. We dominated for at least 80 minutes. We felt so strong and even at half-time, we weren’t nervous, we said ‘we’re going to win, we’re going to turn it around’ and we felt so much stronger. We had to wait for that equalising goal and when it came you expected at least a draw and in my opinion, to even win it.”

The north London outfit will surely take heart from their overall display against the Premier League champions, but whatever happens, they absolutely must find a way of ending their Wembley curse sooner rather than later, or their task of going one step further than last season will become an almost impossible one.

And one way of improving their chances of doing just that will be for Daniel Levy to loosen the purse strings, and allow Pochettino to make a couple of top quality signings that will, in turn, help take Tottenham to another level.
