As announced on Tottenham’s official website on Friday, Vertonghen has put pen to paper on a new deal.
The Belgium international central defender has committed his future to the North London outfit until 2019.

Vertonghen is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and is a key figure in the current Tottenham squad.
Spurs have done well to tie down the Belgian to a long-term contract, as he will be very important for the Premier League outfit in the coming seasons.
The North London club have lofty ambitions for the future and plan to make themselves regulars in the Champions League in the coming years.
Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 13 matches, seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
