Into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, sitting third in Portugal’s top-tier and scoring worldies in training.

Life has seemingly become better on the pitch for Jan Vertongen following his departure from Tottenham a number of seasons ago.

During his days at Spurs, the 34-year-old, even for a centre-back, had magic at his feet and he could always produce something special.

Well, the Belgium international has posted a video of him sitting down a number of his teammates whilst scoring a quite ridiculous goal in training, as you can see on his Instagram and below this article.

Receiving the ball on the edge of the area, he drives into the box, on his stronger left foot, like Tottenham’s new boy, Dejan Kulusevski, before sitting down a number of his teammates when faking to shoot.

That’s when Vertonghen pulls out the Erik Lamela special by topping it all off by scoring a Rabano goal.

Former Spurs winger, Georges-Kévin Nkoudou, posted in the comments section ‘it’s too easy for you’, with Ryan Sessegnon responding ‘too easy’.

Former Tottenham midfielder, Sandro added ‘nice play’, as a number of his colleagues applauded him for his efforts.

Whilst Vertonghen’s partner in crime, Toby Alderweireld, is plying his trade in Qatar.

His former Spurs parter is doing bits with Benfica and especially in the Champions League, alongside former Manchester City defender, Nicolas Otamendi at the back.

The Portuguese giants knocked Ajax out of the Champions League and they will now face-off against one of the favourites in Liverpool.

Vertonghen and Otamendi, during their many battles with the Reds, will be well aware of the tough task that lies ahead for their side.
