Hellas Verona sporting director Tony D’Amico expects offers to arrive for reported Arsenal and Liverpool target Marash Kumbulla this summer, Gianlucadimarzio report.
The 20-year-old defender is Verona’s crown jewel.
Kumbulla was in terrific form prior to the Covid-19 suspension. He made 18 Serie A appearances this term and has been likened to Juventus great Giorgio Chiellini.
According to TuttoNapoli, Liverpool are keen on him. Premier League rivals Arsenal, meanwhile, are the latest to be linked with FC Inter News citing the Gunners’ interest.
Verona know they face a fight to keep him. And, speaking to reporters, sporting director Tony D’Amico says his side value the defender higher than £22 million.
“25 million euros? The value is a bit higher. He is a strong player, he has made an extraordinary championship for his age. He will have many requests. But it is too early to talk about numbers. For us, having a player like that from the youth sector is an honour,” D’Amico explained.
Kumbulla has helped Verona charge up the Serie A table with a nine-game unbeaten run, taking points off both title challengers Juventus and Lazio.
His current ability and huge potential make him an ideal target this summer.
Arsenal will no doubt look to bolster their defence. Both David Luiz and Sokratis are in their thirties, while Shkodran Mustafi faces an uncertain future with the Gunners.
Liverpool, on the other hand, could be seeking another defensive option alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are top players but often struggled with fitness. Dejan Lovren, however, is likely to leave the Reds in the coming transfer window.
