Reading boss Veljko Paunovic has told Berkshire Live that he isn’t aware of an £8million release clause in Michael Olise’s contract.

The Athletic published a report surrounding Olise’s future on Saturday, claiming that he can leave Reading for just £8million thanks to a release clause in his deal.

That report adds that Tottenham are watching Olise ahead of potentially making a move for the playmaker in January or at the end of the season.

Olise didn’t feature against Luton Town on Boxing Day due to a hamstring complaint, meaning he was just an unused substitute.

Still, boss Paunovic had to answer questions about Olise after the final whistle, and offered a very brief response when asked about whether he is aware of such a release clause in Olise’s deal.

“No, not at all,” said Paunovic, seemingly denying that the teenager can leave to join Spurs – or anyone else – for such a low fee any time soon.

Olise, 19, has hit four goals and seven assists in just 20 Championship games this season, sowing creativity whether played as a number 10 or out wide.

Formerly of Chelsea and Manchester City, the Frenchman has found a home in Berkshire, emerging as one of the Championship’s top talents.

Don’t be surprised to see Spurs make a move for Olise in the near future, but they will seemingly have to pay more than £8million to get him.
