Anderlecht manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck has not held back in his criticism regarding Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru.
Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru has been criticised by Anderlecht manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck on Belgian website Voetbalkrant once again after a disappointing performance during a 5-0 loss to Club Brugge.
The 20-year-old striker was signed by the Toffees in the summer from KAS Eupen before being loaned out to Belgian champions Anderlecht, where he has scored 10 goals in 27 league and cup appearances.
However, he has been blasted by his loan side’s manager after the Belgian giants were surprisingly beaten with ease by Club Brugge. Onyekuru was dropped by Vanhaezebrouck but came on as a substitute just before the hour mark.
But former Genk manager Vanhaezebrouck was far from impressed with the two-time Nigeria international’s effort,
“It does not make much sense to put Onyekuru in the centre. When he is standing there, he does not move, and he just moves to the left, he always lets himself down,” Vanhaezebrouck said.
“He does score now and then, but the last few weeks have not been as good either, his contribution has gone down.”
It is not the first time Onyekuru has been lambasted by the 53-year-old boss, as Vanhaezebrouck told Het Belang Van Limburg last month that he “expects more from him.”
The criticism comes as a surprise as Belgian newspaper HLN claimed Manchester United, Juventus and Barcelona have been watching the pacey trickster in the purple of Anderlecht.
The versatile forward remains on loan with Anderlecht until the end of the season but after further criticism, he may continue to be axed to the bench.
