Former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has left Manchester United for Fenerbahce.

Robin van Persie has taken to social networking site Twitter to thank the Arsenal and Manchester United fans for their support over the years.

The Netherlands international has officially left the Premier League for a stint in Turkey, signing a contract with Fenerbahce.

The 31-year-old started his professional career at Dutch giants Feyenoord and moved to North London outfit Arsenal in 2004.

During his time at the Gunners, Van Persie established himself as one of the best strikers in the world and joined their Premier League rivals United in 2012.

The Dutchman helped the Red Devils win the Premier League title in the 2012-13 season, but he has not been at his best for the best part of two years.

Van Persie, though, is looking forward to a new challenge in Turkey, and has thanked the fans of Arsenal and United for their support over the years.
