Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter in anger after watching the 89th minute confrontation between Sadio Mane and Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatian kicked the ball at the Liverpool No.10’s head while he laid on the Anfield turf in the dying stages last night.

Clearly livid with what had just happened, Mane jumped up to confront the former Inter Milan playmaker, putting his hands on his neck.

Kovacic laughed the incident off, and appeared to say something to the Senegal international as he walked away from the conflict.

However, what has angered the Liverpool fans on Twitter is the lack of backing Mane received from his teammates.

During the confrontation, not a single one of Jurgen Klopp’s players rushed in to help their teammate.

Of course, you could argue that they were keen to get the game started again, as they had just minutes to find an equaliser.

Having said that, we’re sure the likes of Jordan Henderson or Virgil van Dijk wouldn’t have thought twice about backing Mane in this situation.

One supporter felt this moment summed up the Reds’ mentality right now.

Another said that it showed ‘none of them care’ – that’s harsh, in our view.

Let’s see what some more Liverpool fans on Twitter said about the clash between Mane and Kovacic…
