Virgil van Dijk has reacted to Mohamed Salah’s new Liverpool contract on Twitter.
This afternoon, Liverpool announced that Salah has finally signed an extension at Anfield.
The 29-year-old was due to be out of contract next summer but the Reds have tied him down to a long-term agreement.
Here’s how Van Dijk reacted, posting a gif to sum up his reaction:
This really is a massive boost for the Merseysiders.
Having sold Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich, it was extra important that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp kept Salah at Anfield for the long term.
They have both have been two of the continent’s most reliable and fearsome wingers since 2016 and the fact that at least one of them will be a Red for a while longer is a gargantuan piece of good news.
How much will Salah earn at Liverpool?
According to Fabrizio Romano, Salah will be earning in the region of £350,000 per week.
That makes him Liverpool’s highest-paid player by a distance, but it isn’t the insane figures that were thrown around for much of 2022 thus far.
And to be honest, he’s worth every penny.
Salah has been Liverpool’s most influential attacking player for five years running and this is a figure that the rest of Klopp’s squad will be able to live with, given his importance.
