Virgil van Dijk has congratulated Liverpool’s Paddy ‘the Baddy’ Pimblett after his UFC victory on Saturday night.

Pimblett enhanced his burgeoning reputation as a rising star in mixed martial arts by securing a first-round stoppage against Kazula Vargas in London last night.

The Liverpool-born fighter executed an excellent rear naked choke to get the submission.

Here’s how Reds defender Virgil van Dijk reacted to the win on Twitter:

Pimblett himself is a massive Liverpool supporter and here’s how he reacted to receiving the tweet from the £75 million powerhouse.

The 27-year-old, who has 17 MMA victories under his belt following last night’s victory, will be cheering on his beloved Reds in the FA Cup tonight.

Jurgen Klopp’s outfit visit Nottingham Forest in a quarter-final clash and the Premier League side will be massive favourites.

However, this is the same side that eliminated Arsenal from the competition earlier this year and therefore Liverpool cannot afford to be complacent.

With Klopp likely to name an under-strength XI, the visitors, like Pimblett, might have to submit the Championship outfit rather than secure victory through knockout.

If Liverpool do win, it won’t be an emphatic one, but this is a team challenging for the Premier League and Champions League as well and therefore it’s so hard to see Forest getting into the semi-final.
