Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Virgil van Dijk has been speaking about the Reds’ midfield options.
The Anfield outfit have rotated a fair bit in the midfield as of late. Harvey Elliott went down with an injury last month, Thiago has been out of action in recent weeks and Curtis Jones has emerged as something of a star.
However, van Dijk reserved special praise for two players who we haven’t seen too much of this season, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.
Indeed, van Dijk says both players are ‘doing very well’ despite the fact they’re hardly playing.
What’s been said?
Van Dijk spoke about the Reds’ midfield.
“It was difficult probably for Curtis to see that a little bit because obviously he wanted to play, but saw Harvey doing so well. Now he had to take his chance,” van Dijk said.
“At the moment, I think if you look at our midfield, Naby is still doing very well, Oxlade is doing very well, so it’s not easy to be out there.”

Right attitude
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita may not be playing much football these days, but it seems as though they’re not slacking.
Oxlade-Chamberlain would have every right to allow his standards to drop right now. He’s started just two games so far this season and we’d completely understand if he was a bit annoyed.
However, van Dijk says he’s doing very well behind the scenes, and if he continues it may not be long before he wrestles back his place in the starting XI.
