Pontus Jansson has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:39pm, September 25, 2021) that Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is probably the strongest defender in the world.
The former Leeds United defender made the comment about Van Dijk after playing against him for Brentford last night.
Liverpool played out a 3-3 draw with Brentford away from home in the Premier League last night.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney had a good battle with Van Dijk and got the better of the Netherlands international central defender on a number of occasions.
Jansson said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:39pm, September 25, 2021): “We have Ivan and he had a fight against probably the strongest defender in the world (Van Dijk), and I think he made it good.”

How did Virgil van Dijk play?
Van Dijk is one of the best central defenders in the world and is a key figure at Liverpool.
The former Celtic star did not have a torrid game, but when your team concedes three goals and you are a defender, you cannot really say that you did well, can you?
Toney unsettled Van Dijk with his physical approach to the game and was a problem for the Dutchman throughout.
However, the Netherlands international should be lauded for making a late tackle to stop Brentford from scoring.
