Manchester United loanee, Donny van de Beek, has posted on Instagram that his first experience of Everton’s Goodison Park was ‘wonderful’.
The Dutch midfielder watched on from the stands on Saturday as Everton thrashed Brentford 4-1 in the FA Cup – he was ineligible to play because of his substitute appearance for Man United against Aston Villa.
At half-time, he was introduced to the home crowd, alongside fellow deadline day signing, Dele Alli and they gave the duo a rapturous welcome.
After struggling for game time in Man United colours, Van de Beek will be hoping things will drastically change under Frank Lampard on Merseyside.
The Englishman has started off life in a perfect fashion, with his side not only beating their Premier League opponents in the FA Cup, but also putting four goals past them.
After the game, this was the message Van de Beek posted regarding his introduction to the Toffees supporters.
“A wonderful first experience of Goodison Park,” said Van de Beek. “And a great win from them. See you next week.”
The games are coming thick and fast for Everton now with a crucial trip to Newcastle awaiting them on Tuesday night.
That’s when both Van de Beek and Alli will have a chance to make their debuts, but it will be interesting to see if they are handed a start.
Given the dominant display from Everton against Brentford, it might just force Lampard to play the same XI, aside from the injured Ben Godfrey, at St James’ Park.
But, for once, the Goodison Park faithful have something positive to think about after that ill-fated reign of Rafa Benitez.
