West Ham United should consider a move for Rodrigo this summer.

The former coach of Manchester City, Chilean Manuel Pellegrini (L), arrives for the draw of the Copa Sudamericana football tournament, in Santiago, on July 12, 2016.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has begun his tenure at the London Stadium in earnest, bringing in a plethora of new faces, but there is still one area where the Chilean needs to strengthen.

The Hammers lack a real goalscoring threat through the middle, with Andy Carroll proving to be unreliable once again from a fitness perspective and Javier Hernandez failing to hit the heights that were expected of him.

With this in mind, Pellegrini should attempt to bring Valencia hitman Rodrigo to West Ham this summer.

The 27-year-old was in fine form in Spain last season, scoring 19 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions for Los Che, and he would surely prove to be a real asset for the Hammers.

Rodrigo is a superb finisher, and he possesses fantastic movement.

Standing at 6ft tall, he is also strong in the air, and has many different facets to his game.

The nine-capped Spain international can play anywhere along the front-line, but is most comfortable when deployed in the orthodox number nine position.

Rodrigo also has experience of playing in England, having spent a spell with Bolton Wanderers seven years ago.

He has come on so much since then, though, and has developed into a truly elite striker.

According to Transfer Markt, the Valencia hitman is valued at £44.8 million, but West Ham would surely be able to tempt the La Liga side into selling for less than that amount.

And if Pellegrini does in fact manage to bring Rodrigo to east London, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Hammers.
