Celtic are aiming to turn around their first leg deficit against Valencia tonight.

The trip to the Mestalla will be tough, with Celtic losing 2-0 at home last week.

Celtic’s best chance would be if Valencia were too complacent.

It does not sound as though that is the case, going by Denis Cheryshev’s comments.

The Russia World Cup star scored away at Celtic last week and he saw enough from Valencia’s opponents to be worried about the return.

Cheryshev told Spanish newspaper Super Deporte: “Celtic is a dangerous opponent, many fans are coming.

“We play at home and we want to show that we want to keep going, the team is playing good games, on Sunday we missed the goal, but we have full hopes of moving forward in this competition.”

Valencia looked a class apart from Celtic in the first leg, but if Brendan Rodgers’ side can score first at the Mestalla then they have a chance.

The pressure is off Celtic and this may enable the Scottish champions to play more freely.

Valencia will not be taking them lightly.
