Valencia manager Albert Celades says he can only hope reported Liverpool target Ferran Torres remains at the club amid speculation over his future, Superdeporte report.

The Valencia winger has been linked with a potential summer exit.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool are keen on him as manager Jurgen Klopp looks for another attacking option to rival Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.

Torres is widely regarded as one of Spain’s top young players.

The winger’s contract at Valencia, however, expires in 2021 and the La Liga club’s manager Albert Celades is praying they manage to extend his deal.

“I have talked to Ferran, I do often. It is clear that uncertainty is never good to work, whatever it may be. He has a great mentality, we would all like him to stay, but we’ll see what happens. We would love for him to stay because he is a magnificent, fabulous footballer who has had great growth. He is also Valencian, and has been raised here, hopefully he stays and we enjoy Ferran for a long time,” Celades explained.

Why Valencia could cash in on Ferran Torres:

According to Sport, Torres has a release clause of around £88 million.

But Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Sport he could leave for £50 million with Premier League trio Chelsea, Manchester City and United all keen.

Valencia would surely prefer to sell rather than lose him for next-to-nothing in 2021.

Torres, 20, posted six goals and seven assists prior to the Covid-19 suspension.

Liverpool may have dominated the Premier League, but there is room for improvement. Besides, Jurgen Klopp will not allow the Reds to rest on their laurels.

Primarily a right-winger but capable of playing on the left, Torres could offer the Reds versatility in the final third while the Spaniard has his entire career ahead of him.
