Valencia boss comments on future of reported £26m Spurs target Geoffrey Kondogbia

Valencia boss Javi Garcia says his club would be ready if a big offer arrives for reported Tottenham Hotspur target Geoffrey Kondogbia, Superdeporte report.

The Spanish club have gone through several changes this summer.

A number big-named players have left the Mestalla, including Dani Parejo, winger Ferran Torres and forward Rodrigo who joined Leeds United for around £30 million.

A recent report by Cope Cadena claimed the La Liga club would sell up to eight players this summer, while back in July Footmercato cited Spurs as suitors for Kondogbia.

The French editorial also claimed Kondogbia wants to move to the Premier League.

But Garcia has since told Superdeporte how he believes the midfielder will remain at Valencia, while adding they would be ready should a big offer arrive.

“I believe that those two players [Geoffrey Kondogbia and Maxi Gomez] are not going to leave. They have not been players that I have perceived are for sale. In football anything can happen, and if a super offer arrives, we will be ready for it, but I don’t think they are for sale,” Garcia explained.

Tottenham looked toothless in their opening day defeat at home to Everton.

Spurs lined up with Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg holding while Dele Alli played further forward, but the trio lacked pace and penetration in midfield.

There appears to be little strength and conviction in Tottenham’s midfield, with Tanguy Ndombele struggling to get going and Moussa Sissoko starting on the bench.

Spurs have been linked with Kondogbia before. A report by Sky Sports in April said Jose Mourinho’s side were keen, while Everton could rival them for his signature.

While another striker is surely on Mourinho’s wish-list ahead of the transfer deadline, the midfield certainly needs sorting too.

The London Evening Standard, meanwhile, claimed Kondogbia would cost around £26 million.
