Celtic's Ivorian forward Vakoun Issouf Bayo leaves the pitch after receiving a red card during the UEFA Europa League Group E football match between Rennes (stade Rennais FC) and Celtic...

Vakoun Issouf Bayo has told Celtic’s official website that he feels he has improved a lot in training this season.

Bayo has only made two starts for Celtic across all competitions, but he has been used as a substitute on fairly regular occasions.

The attacker has got far more game time at Parkhead this term than he did last season.

And Bayo feels like he has improved a lot during his time at Celtic.

“I’m happy because I’m getting more minutes now,” said Bayo.

“That wasn’t happening last season and earlier this season. I was injured for a while so that meant I couldn’t play. I’m really happy with the minutes I’m getting because I’m playing football which is what I love.

“I feel like I’ve made progress in training as well. The measurement for that is the amount of time I’ve had on the pitch. Before, I wasn’t playing at all and now the manager is giving me opportunities.

“I know how important it is to perform in training because that’s what will give me more time on the pitch in games.”

Bayo seems likely to be on the bench for Celtic again at the weekend, with the pressure building on the Bhoys.

Neil Lennon’s side have failed to win either of their last two matches, which has seen them lose their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Celtic are now playing catch up with Rangers, which is a position which they are not at all familiar with.

The Bhoys’ next game comes on Saturday, when they take on Ross County.
