Celtic new boy Vakoun Issouf Bayo finally arrived in Scotland last night.
Celtic new boy Vakoun Issouf Bayo has told The Scottish Sun that he is not 100% fit, and doesn’t know when he will be able to play for the Bhoys.
Two weeks ago, Bayo became Celtic’s third signing of the January transfer window, joining Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah at Parkhead.
Bayo is the first permanent Celtic signing of 2019, and he will be hoping to mirror his success from Slovakia when he gets going in Scotland.
The 22-year-old smashed 18 goals and seven assists in just 23 games for Dunajska Streda this season, prompting Celtic to go and sign him.
The problem has been that Bayo hasn’t been able to really start his Celtic career, due to some red tape and paperwork preventing him from featuring.
A work permit has seemingly been granted after Bayo touched down in Scotland for the first time on Tuesday, whilst Celtic are still waiting for international clearance.
Bayo did though speak to the press after landing in Glasgow last night, and revealed that he is not 100% fit right now, as it has been the winter break in Slovakia, so his Celtic debut may be delayed.
Bayo notes that he doesn’t know when he will be ready to play, but can’t wait to get started with the Bhoys and hit top form soon.
“I am not 100 per cent fit just now because we have just had our winter break in Slovakia,” said Bayo. “So I don’t know if I will be able to play straight away, we shall have to wait and see.”
“But I know every minute of every match I play will help me get closer to where I need to be. And now I am here I am just looking forward to starting my Celtic career,” he added.
