Celtic dropped some £2 million [Herald Scotland] in bringing the 22-year-old hitman to Parkhead, having netted 18 goals across 23 games in Slovakia’s top flight this season.
That goal return and that transfer fee means there’s going to be a certain pressure on Bayo to impress, but at the same time he will not be bogged down by any huge expectation.
There isn’t major pressure on Bayo because he isn’t the only striker that the Hoops signed.
Brendan Rodgers also brought in Timothy Weah on a six-month loan. This is a player who has made competitive appearances for Paris Saint-Germain and, being the son of George Weah, an iconic footballer, there is more expectation on the 18-year-old than there is Bayo.
The fact that he’s only at Paradise until May only increases the pressure to enjoy a fast-and-furious start to life in Glasgow, even if he’s still just 18.
And let’s not forget about Odsonne Edouard who, at £9 million, is Celtic’s most expensive signing of all time, which means the goalscoring burden ultimately falls on him.

The Parkhead faithful will demand goals due to his transfer fee, but they’ll be more demanding of Weah and Edouard due to their profiles, and hopefully for Bayo that allows him more freedom.
