Vakoun Issouf Bayo won’t stop trying to impress Celtic interim boss Neil Lennon.
Vakoun Issouf Bayo has suggested to The Record that Celtic boss Neil Lennon doesn’t quite rate him yet.
Bayo joined Celtic for £2 million under Brendan Rodgers in January [The Scottish Herald].
But the Ivorian hitman is yet to play more than one minute of football for the Hoops, which came under Rodgers’s tenure.
The 22-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball since Lennon replaced the Leicester City boss on an interim basis, and has only made a matchday squad once.
But despite struggling to impress the Bhoys caretaker boss, Bayo is adamant that he’ll keep trying to ‘convince him’ of his talents.
He told The Record: “The departure of the former coach has somewhat mixed my plans. Today, there is a new boss who runs the team. It is not easy.
“But, as a professional, I give the best of me to convince him. I am a fighter. If I’m at Celtic, it’s because I have a talent, so it’s up to me to fight to win my place.”
Lennon probably should utilise Bayo more than he has been. Celtic have been grinding out very narrow results since Rodgers left and the big African marksman is a different option than what Lennon has up front.
The Scots have a 10-point lead at the top of the Premiership and the bigger that gap becomes, the more opportunity Lennon will have to experiment.
