If the signing of Philippe Coutinho wasn’t enough for Aston Villa, Steven Gerrard could be about to seal another sensational transfer.

What’s the story?

Well, Luis Suarez could be heading back to the Premier League.

Yep. The man who left these shores to seal a £75m move to Barcelona in 2014 is interested in reuniting with Gerrard and Coutinho at Villa Park.

According to Gerard Romero, Suarez is “focusing” on the Villans despite also receiving offers from Palmeiras, Corinthians and Atlético Mineiro.

This is quite the story.

One man who would seemingly back Suarez’s move to Aston Villa is Gary Lineker, who has openly praised the 34-year-old in the past.

Back in 2015, the BBC Match of the Day host described the 128-cap Uruguay international as an “utterly stupendous” footballer.

You can see Lineker’s tweet in full below.

In truth, that is probably an understatement – Suarez is one of the greatest forwards of his generation, to say the least.

Should Aston Villa sign Luis Suarez?

Of course, there’s certainly an argument against signing a 34-year-old, even if that 34-year-old is Suarez.

He wouldn’t exactly be a long-term addition to Gerrard’s squad, and his £263,000-a-week wages might prove to be an issue for the Villans.

However, this is Suarez we’re talking about, a man with 433 career goals – 69 of them coming in the Premier League.

Without a doubt, the £5.5m man is one of the best we’ve seen in England’s top-flight.

Despite his age, the South American has still managed to score nine goals this season, which is impressive stuff.

With all due respect, the Villans had Keinan Davis as their backup striker a few weeks ago, so nobody should be turning their nose up at Suarez.

Keep an eye on this saga – if Gerrard pulls this off, it would be one of the biggest stories in the Premier League this season.
