Newcastle United fans cannot believe reports that some Premier League clubs will refuse to sell players to them in January.
Premier League opposition
The Telegraph report that opposition to Newcastle’s takeover from some top flight teams has caused there to be an ‘anyone but Newcastle’ approach when it comes to selling players.
Eddie Howe’s side are known to be in the market to improve in January, but they may now be met with stiff opposition from rival sides.
The report claims that the Magpies may be forced to look abroad, due to the reluctance of Premier League sides to sell them players.
And fans of the Tyneside club have been left amazed by what they feel is the pettiness of some of the clubs in the league.
Will Newcastle buy?
Of course, what should be said is that it is easier said than done to refuse Newcastle’s riches.
If the Magpies do offer big money, it will be interesting to see which clubs stand firm on their apparent beliefs.
It may be that clubs have to compromise their principles, if they do want to raise funds.
Newcastle will almost certainly have their eye on foreign markets too.
But the pressure is on them to sign players who can have an immediate impact in the Premier League.
Howe’s side are six points adrift of safety and if they are unable to sign players currently playing in England’s top flight that could dent their hopes of making it out of the relegation zone.
