Kris Boyd has written in The Scottish Sun that Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer is not as good as he is made out to be.
The former Rangers and Kilmarnock striker, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, played with Ajer at Kilmarnock.
The 22-year-old central defender had a loan spell at Kilmarnock from Celtic in 2017.
Milan News 24 reported earlier this month that AC Milan are interested in the Norway international and could make a bid of €30 million (£26.97 million), as covered by HITC Sport here.
In June 2020, former Celtic defender Vidar Riseth said that the Glasgow giants should hold out for £30 million for the youngster, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, as quoted in The Glasgow Evening Times.
Boyd wrote in The Scottsh Sun: “Kristoffer Ajer is not as good as he or so many others seem to believe. All this talk about him being worth £30million is utter nonsense and I say that as someone who played with him at Kilmarnock.”
How much is Kristoffer Ajer worth?
It is not every day that a club in Scotland is able to sell a player for £30 million, but if Milan – or any other team – are willing to pay that much for Ajer, then that is his worth.
A player is worth what a club is wiling to pay for him. However, it is unlikely that Celtic will cash in on Ajer in the January transfer window, as he is an important player in their quest to make it 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row this season.
