Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after Danny Murphy claimed that Carlo Ancelotti isn’t the right fit for the job at Goodison Park.

The ex-Liverpool man was speaking on talkSPORT (7 December, 12.50am) about the Toffees boss, stating that he feels Brendan Rodgers should’ve been appointed instead.

Murphy said: ‘I think (Ancelotti) is one of those managers who’s better suited to a team full of superstars. I never thought it was the right fit, personally. I don’t think it’s what Everton needed.

‘They should have gone for Brendan Rodgers. There’s no doubting Ancelotti is a top manager but, sometimes, top managers can’t walk into a club like Everton and make them competitive.’

We respect everyone’s opinion – on this occasion, however, we must disagree.

Ancelotti is a three-time Champions League winning manager, who has tutored the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka throughout his career.

We understand what Murphy is saying about the Italian perhaps being overqualified for the Everton job, and the fact that he’s never managed a club who aren’t a giant of the game.

However, that certainly doesn’t mean he’s the wrong fit. Ancelotti has already shown signs that his project is working well at Goodison Park.

He has overseen Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s transition into one of Europe’s most in-form strikers, while Michael Keane has also come on leaps and bounds under his guidance.

Ancelotti has also signed players like James Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey, all of whom are excellent investments.

The Toffees are in good hands under the ex-Chelsea boss.

Let’s see how the Everton fans on Twitter reacted to Murphy’s comments…
