A deep run in the FIFA World Cup 2026 will further establish the celebrity status of USMNT stars.
So much has been made about just how highly soccer features in the consciousness of the American public, but a successful time of things in a home World Cup will clearly help boost the profile of several players.
The US go through as group winners and are joined by Australia despite losing right at the end. How far is Mauricio Pochettino's side capable of going?
Indeed, the further Mauricio Pochettino’s side go in the competition, the more the public will be interested in the players who took them on what could be such a fantastic journey.
There will no doubt be increased interest in the personal lives of players and goalkeeper Matt Turner’s story is certainly interesting.
Turner is married to former New England Patriots cheerleader
The goalkeeper isn’t a regular starter for the USMNT at this year’s World Cup but he did appear in the final group game, a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Turkey in Los Angeles.
New York City FC’s Matt Freese is the man Pochettino has trusted to stand between the sticks for most of their games thus far and it would not be a surprise to see the 27-year-old reclaim his spot when the knockout rounds begin later this week.

Turner is perhaps more recognizable to a British audience. The 32-year-old joined Arsenal from New England Revolution in 2022 before having spells with both Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace in the English Premier League.
He began his career with Jersey Express before making the move to New England and, upon leaving Forest, he joined French giants Lyon.
Now back with New England, Turner is married to a former New England Patriots cheerleader, who also holds an MBA from Harvard University.
The goalkeeper married Ashley Herron Turner – who has previously worked with Tom Brady’s sports brand TB12 – in 2022.
The couple have two children together.
