West Ham may be able to use Diafra Sakho in any potential deal for Swansea’s Ki Sung-yueng or Alfie Mawson.
Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace escapes a challenge from Alfie Mawson of Swansea City during the Premier League match at the Liberty Stadium.
The Swans are interested in Sakho as new manager Carlos Carvalhal wants to improve his side’s failing attack and although they were also looking at bringing another Hammer in Andre Ayew back to the Liberty Stadium, the Ghana international’s wages are too high.
Dejected Swansea players Jordan Ayew (l) and Ki Sung-Yueng react after the Premier League match against Manchester City.
David Moyes is hoping to add a new centre-back and midfielder to his squad during the current January transfer window and Ki and Mawson are on the wish-list.
Swansea do not want to lose either, particularly to another Premier League relegation rival, but in Sakho Moyes may have the perfect solution in any potential negotiations.
West Ham United player Diafra Sakho in action during the Premier League match against Manchester City.
The striker has scored four goals in 17 games for West Ham this season, but has been constantly linked with a move away from the London Stadium and is clearly well down the pecking order.
Sakho does actually have a resectable scoring record for the East Londoners of 24 goals in 71 appearances, but with the 28-year-old wanting to leave and Moyes clearly not rating him, using the forward as part of a deal for a player who could be a key member of the starting XI in either Ki or Mawson would be superb business.
