‘Used to that’: Rio Ferdinand aims jibe at Tottenham fans after making PL title admission

Rio Ferdinand told his official YouTube channel that he would be ‘happy’ if Tottenham won the Premier League title and he actually ‘wouldn’t mind’ it compared to other sides potentially lifting the crown.

But the former England defender couldn’t help but aim a jibe at the Spurs fans by claiming that they were disappointed with recent defeats, but as the fans of the North London club are ‘used to that’.

Tottenham have seemingly shot themselves in the foot during these past few games – Liverpool and Leicester – by losing to both teams, who are now sitting above them in the table.

There is still a long way to go in the Premier League title race and Ferdinand shared his thoughts about Tottenham.

“It’s been a bad week for Spurs,” said Ferdinand. “I want to see Spurs do well, I have got to be honest. If there’s one team in the league where I would love them to actually have a little go. If they won the league, I wouldn’t mind.

“There are some teams, the Liverpool’s, when I was playing the City’s, the Chelsea’s and Arsenal because they are fighting for it. You are thinking ‘nah, don’t want any of them winning it’. Like Leicester when they won it, I was buzzing for them. Happy. Spurs would fall into that category.

“But they seem to trip themselves up, all the time. Big game. To really put their flag in the sand and say ‘we are here to stay and mount a proper challenge’.

“Leicester, someone in and around us. And they fluff their lines. It’s disappointing. To be a Spurs fan, you are used to that. It’s what happens.”

Jose Mourinho is the key for Spurs because he is well aware of what it takes to get over that dotted line.

But it doesn’t help his cause when players like Serge Aurier are giving away such needless penalties against Leicester and that’s something he won’t put up with for too long.

The positive Mourinho can take is that he’s not expected to win the title this season, so he does have time on his hands to try and build his way to the title.
