Tottenham Hotspur have this evening announced that Anthony Georgiou has left the club.

The 23-year-old, a Spurs academy product, has joined AEL Limassol of Cyprus on a permanent basis after struggling for senior football in North London.

Georgiou made his Tottenham debut under Mauricio Pochettino in a Champions League game against APOEL during the 2017-18 campaign.

But since then, the left-sided player has failed in the most part to break into a senior squad under Pochettino or Jose Mourinho.

He did have a loan spell with Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers last season, but that resulted in only 262 minutes of league football combined.

Georgiou did show some flashes of his potential during numerous pre-season friendlies in a Tottenham shirt.

And here’s how some Lilywhites fans reacted to his departure on Twitter:

It’s been a quiet window for Tottenham in regards to arrivals.

There’s been a good bit of speculation about potential signings but, with 10 days left in the window, Daniel Levy and Mourinho are yet to sign anybody.
