The Marcelo Bielsa era at Leeds United is now at an end and it’s now Jesse Marsch’s turn to etch his name into the rich history of the Yorkshire giants.
On Monday evening, Leeds announced the arrival of their new Head Coach, who will become the third American to don the touchline of England’s top-flight – after Bob Bradley and ex-USA international, David Wagner.
In Marsch’s homeland of the USA, the press made it clear that a ‘tough’ job awaits the former New York Red Bulls coach in Yorkshire, as reported by CBS Sports.
The American outlet even claimed that, if Marsch keeps Leeds in the Premier League, then he could be ‘rewarded’ with the signing of Brenden Aaronson.
The 21-year-old USA superstar dons his colours for RB Salzburg in Austria – where Marsch enjoyed his biggest success, including bringing through Leeds-born, Erling Braut Haaland.
When Bielsa was in the Elland Road dugout, Leeds were seemingly trying to sign the all-action playmaker during the January transfer window, but they couldn’t get his talents through their doors.
Nonetheless, it was noted by CBS that Marsch’s ‘style of pressing’ will translate to the Whites, who were probably the most intense and high-tempo team under their previous manager.
Added with that, MLS Soccer’s official website also reported on Marsch’s appointment and stated that Jack Harrison is going to be one of his ‘key’ players.
The flying winger donned the colours of New York City during his days in the MLS and he will be hoping to showcase his magic under Marsch’s stewardship.
Marsch’s first game in charge will be an away clash at Leicester City, in truth, given their problems and inconsistent form, it’s a pretty reasonable start.
Just like Leeds, Brendan Rodgers’s side have also struggled from a defensive aspect, including having one of the worst records from set-pieces.
So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it’s goals galore between one of the worst defences in the league and one of the most inconsistent teams in the Foxes.
