Speaking on US TV Station ESPN, Steve Nicol has been full of praise for Ben White, naming him as one of Arsenal’s better signings this summer.

The defender has been brilliant as of late, and while his first few games in an Arsenal shirt didn’t go to plan, he’s now finding his groove in north London.

Indeed, Nicol says that while White had a sticky start, he’s now holding things together at the back for the Gunners.

What’s been said?

Nicol spoke about White.

“Ben White, after a sticky start, he is absolutely holding things together. If they can get a goalscoring centre-forward, someone else in the middle for Xhaka and a right-back, they can compete with, certainly Chelsea and maybe give City and Liverpool a scare,” Nicol said.

Improved

Ben White has certainly improved since his Arsenal debut.

In his first game for the Gunners, White was partially at fault as Brentford got the better of Mikel Arteta’s side, but upon his return, he looked much improved.

The centre-half looks like he’s settled in after getting the biggest move of his career, and he’s playing a key role in making sure that Arsenal are defensively sound.

£50m seemed steep for White in the summer, but if he carries on like this, that fee will represent great value for money.
