Premier League clubs like Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Acevedo during the South American U20 Championships – but what about Marcel Brands’ Everton?

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have sent scouts to watch the South American U20 Championships this month with director of football Marcel Brands on the lookout for more rough diamonds.
Brands has discovered the likes of Dries Mertens, Gini Wijnaldum and Hirving Lozano during his time in Holland and is now looking for the next fresh-faced starlet at a tournament which launched the career of Richarlison in 2017.
So surely Nicolas Acevedo has caught the eye of the Merseyside outfit.
According to The Sun, the 19-year-old Uruguayan has been arguably the best player at the competition with a whole host of clubs showing interest, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Everton’s local rivals Liverpool.

A tough-tackling and dynamic midfielder who has been likened to his compatriot Lucas Torreira, Acevedo is exactly the sort of little-known talent that Brands has frequently turned into household names.
So it will be no surprise to see Everton join Liverpool in the list of clubs keen to offer Acevedo his big break in the near future.
