Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Patrick Vieira, his managerial career to date and his future.

The Frenchman is emerging as one of the brightest coaches in the Premier League. His Crystal Palace side are playing some incredibly scintillating football, and he’s continuously being linked with bigger jobs.

Wright says that Arsenal may have made a mistake in not bringing him back to the club once his playing career was over, and now, he says that he could end up getting the Manchester City job once Pep Guardiola is done.

What’s been said?

Wright gave his view on Vieira.

“I thought he would have been kept within Arsenal, under Wenger, obviously, Wenger kept like Bouldy around him, but he didn’t keep Vieira around and I think Patrick might’ve been upset with that,” Wright said.

“He went to play for City, and after he’s finished he probably thought ‘if Arsenal want me to I’ll go,’ but they didn’t and City brought him in to do the U18s and to do New York. Then he went back to France. Now he knows how he wants to play, he’s very calm, and the way he’s working and moulding that team, if anything happens with Pep, he’s going to be in the running for that Man City job.”

Torn

If Vieira’s options open up to the point where he has to choose between the Arsenal job and the City job, he will have a big decision to make.

The Frenchman is obviously an Arsenal legend, and at the end of the day, his loyalties largely lie with the north London club.

However, City were very good to him after his playing days were done, and you really couldn’t blame him if he decided to repay that faith and take the City job over a role at Arsenal if the opportunity presents itself.
