Ian Wright says Arsenal fans would have been going nuts at Tottenham Hotspur’s Erik Lamela if they were in the ground on Sunday, as per his comments to the Wrighty’s House podcast.

Lamela lit up the North London derby when he came on, after scoring a quite brilliant goal to put Tottenham in-front.

The Argentine also got into a number of skirmishes, during his time on the pitch.

Lamela was seen just making off the ball fouls and Granit Xhaka and David Luiz, which provoked a reaction from both players.

And Wright admits that he absolutely loved Lamela’s display for Spurs.

“I liked it when Lamela came on,” he said. “He reminded me of how the derby used to be. Spiky, gnarly, causing problems – score an unbelievable goal.

“That performance at the Emirates, if the fans were in there, would have turned that towards Tottenham.

“Our fans would be saying ‘someone get hold of him’, he was really pushing the envelope.

“It was good because he was doing exactly what I would do – just upset everybody, anywhere you can.

“It was unfortunate for them that there wasn’t a crowd, they needed a crowd.”

Unfortunately for the Argentine, he crossed the line in the end with his performance.

Lamela was ultimately guilty of being sent off, after making one too many fouls.

Tottenham actually improved with 10 men, but by that time the damage was done, with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side running out 2-1 winners.
