Tim Sherwood says it’s ‘unusual’ for a footballer to take responsibility like Son Heung-min has done following the sacking of Antonio Conte from Tottenham Hotspur.
Before Daniel Levy booted Antonio Conte out from Tottenham’s dugout, the Italian made sure to leave with a parting gift and that’s calling out near-on everything wrong with the club.
From Spurs’ lack of trophies over the years to their inability to play under pressure, the outspoken trophy-winning coach went in and he didn’t hold back.

It’s no surprise that, since he was axed, no player has put out a message on social media thanking him for his efforts, including the team securing Champions League football last season.
But a certain Son Heung-min was asked about his manager’s sacking and he said that he ‘feels responsible’ for this outcome and how he is ‘really sorry’ this has had to happen to his ‘world-class’ coach, as reported by Sky Sports.
Tim Sherwood praised Son for his comments and how the £22 million star (FourFourTwo) has stood out from the crowd, as he told Premier League Productions (03/04/23 at 7:40 PM).
“It’s hard to criticise this kid because he’s such a good lad,” said Sherwood. “Son’s a fantastic trainer and he’s a good person to have around the place.
“He’s very honest and he wants to take a bit of responsibility, which is unusual for a footballer to do that. We have been there and we don’t want to take any when we played. Sometimes you have to.
“He hasn’t had a good season. It has been a quiet one. It has been interrupted and a difficult one because of the World Cup. He has had a fractured cheekbone as well.
“But it hasn’t been a consistent one. It hasn’t been to his normal standards and he wants to shoulder a bit of responsibility. I think he is the only one who said that. I mean Conte did dig a few of them out and he is the only one who has replied. You have to give him credit for that.”

LACK OF RESPONSE
Usually, when a manager is sacked, you will see players post messages on their social media thanking that individual for what they have done.
But nothing with the Spurs players, other than Son’s comments when he was asked about the situation by the media.
That is quite telling, which probably says more about the players than Conte himself because he has won the trophies, not them.
