Reported Arsenal and West Ham United target Andre Silva has been in “untouchable” form during a potentially record-breaking season at Eintracht Frankfurt, teammate Filip Kostic has told the Bundesliga website.

Is there a better partnership in German football right now?

Since the turn of the year, Silva and Kostic have been pretty much unplayable, forming an understanding that would make Ant and Dec resemble distant strangers.

In total, the former has scored 23 goals in 27 league games in 2020/21 – many of them assisted by the latter.

So, with Arsenal identifying Silva as a potential successor for the ageing Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates (Calciomercato in March), there’s a chance Ant could lose his Dec.

Especially with Sport1 claiming Frankfurt won’t renege on a gentleman’s agreement they made when signing Silva from AC Milan. The Portugal international will be allowed to leave – for a bargain £25 million – if the right offer comes up this summer.

“When Silva came at the beginning, it was a bit difficult because we’d never played together before and it took a while. But we soon got along well on the pitch and he understood where I was putting the balls,” explains Kostic, the Bundesliga’s most prolific assist-creator in 2020/21 with 14.

“We often stay longer in training during the week and practise free-kicks and crosses. And that brings results.

“He reads the game very well, is always where he needs to be and, for me, the most important thing for a striker is he scores goals.

“He has been really amazing this season. Untouchable. He scores a lot for us, which is extremely important.”

No player in Frankfurt’s history has scored more than 26 goals in a single league season. Silva, however, needs only four to secure his status as a living legend.

“He’s not far from breaking the club’s scoring record, making him the best goalscorer in club history,” Kostic adds. “I’m overjoyed for him. He deserves it because he works very hard.”

In February, BILD reported a goal-shy Wolves side had shown an interest in Jorge Mendes’ client, with Silva also attracting glances from West Ham (Daily Mail).
