Carlo Ancelotti has already offered a warm embrace to one supremely gifted attacking midfielder given the cold shoulder at the Santiago Bernabau.
And who can blame Isco for feeling a tad envious as James Rodriguez rebuilds his reputation under the guidance of a familiar face at Goodison Park?
The Mirror reports the £18 million-rated superstar is keen to reunite with both James and Ancelotti in the new year.
What’s more, Everton is the most likely destination for an out of favour A-lister who has started just five La Liga games since the start of last season.
Ancelotti labelled Isco a “fantastic” talent when asked about the speculation after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle – a game in which the bandy-legged playmaker’s defence-splitting qualities could have come in handy.
But it is his comments from 2014 that should have Toffees fans counting down the days until the winter window opens.
Six years ago, Ancelotti transformed Isco from a mercurial forward into an all-action playmaker capable of dominating from the centre of the park. This was while the Italian was comparing Isco with one of the 21st century’s most gifted midfielders – Clarence Seedorf.

“He can play there no problem, he can help the team here,” Ancelotti told ESPN two months before leading Real Madrid to the Champions League title.
“I have spoken with Isco about the comparison with Seedorf. I also spoke with Seedorf, who was happy as he knows Isco is a great player.”
Remarkably, Isco has now matched the legendary Seedorf with four Champions League titles to his name.
But, like James, the “untouchable” Isco can breathe fresh life into his stuttering career by taking part in Ancelotti’s Everton revolution.
