Craig Burley has stated that Everton forward Richarlison is a ‘skilful’ player who will ‘fight’, but he is ‘unsure’ about a possible transfer to Tottenham, as he told ESPN.
With Champions League football returning to Spurs next season, Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his squad this summer.
One name that is constantly popping up is that of Everton’s all-action and in-your-face star, Richarlison – he could cost well over £50 million.
The Brazil international scored ten Premier League goals during the recently-concluded campaign, as the Toffees survived relegation on the penultimate game of the season.
And with rumours surfacing that Spurs could sign him, ex-Scotland international, Burley, stated that he is unsure the player fits into what Tottenham want.
“I think the priority is at the back,” said Burley. “In some sense, he hasn’t got the structured play of Conte.
“But, in another sense, he has other attributes, like he fights, he is obviously a skilful player. Whenever you see him playing for Everton, whether you like him or not or he goes to ground often or not. He puts himself about.
“I just can’t make up my mind about this guy. I don’t know if it’s a good or bad move. A lot of that might be down to where he has been playing the last three or four years.
“Everton has been such a car crash. It’s not easy to play in and maybe for that reason, we haven’t seen the best of him.
“It just seems a lot of money. You wouldn’t sign Richarlison and say ‘he will be in the Tottenham team straight away’. I am unsure whether this deal could be done.”
HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD SPURS PUT ON THE TABLE FOR RICHARLISON?
Of course, as the selling club, Everton, who aren’t exactly in great financial shape, will want as much money as they want for Richarlison.
But how much should Spurs push for the player knowing that he might not even start?
One thing is for sure, he’s not getting ahead of either Harry Kane or Heung-Min Son.
Dejan Kulusevski is in the same boat, but given that he has only been in England for six months, if he starts next season poorly, then a space will open up for Richarlison.
But surely Spurs shouldn’t be playing £50 million+ for a player that will be a squad player?
