It has been reported that the Bournemouth striker – who “can be unstoppable” on his day, according to former Sunderland striker Darren Bent on talkSPORT (6:36pm, August 30, 2020) (click here to read more) – wants to join Newcastle this summer.
The Magpies have made an offer totalling £20 million for the England international, but Premier League rivals Villa have bid £21 million for the striker, according to the report.
However, according to the report, Wilson prefers a move to Newcastle to Villa.
Advantage Newcastle United?
While Bournemouth will obviously accept the highest bid for Wilson, the player’s wish will play a massive role.
If Wilson wants to join Newcastle, then it is a massive advantage for the Magpies in negotiations.
What Newcastle now need to do is match Villa’s bid or go higher, as they have already won part of the battle, that is, to convince Wilson to make the switch to St. James’ Park.
Joelinton scored just two goals in the Premier League last season, according to WhoScored, and Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has to sign a new striker this summer.
