Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter after seeing how Ryan Taylor reacted to the news that Lee Charnley had left his role as Managing Director.

What’s the story?

Well, after Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce were shoved out of St James’ Park, Charnley has now left as well following a handover period.

What he was handing over is a mystery, as it doesn’t appear he did much good during his 22 years at Newcastle.

With him and Ashley at the helm, the Magpies were twice relegated to the Championship, and had no ambition to succeed whatsoever.

The pair also communicated horrendously. While there was next to no contact with supporters, that was probably for the best seeing how they treated Taylor and Jonas Gutierrez.

If you didn’t already know, Ashley and Charnley asked John Carver to inform Taylor and Gutierrez that they’d been released over the phone.

The ex-Newcastle man referenced that moment when reacting to the news, writing on Instagram: ‘About time. Maybe it was over the phone too?’

As quoted by the Guardian, Taylor said at the time: “John Carver rang me and told me the club weren’t going to offer me a new deal. I had a chat with him and then he asked me to pass the phone to Jonas, which was unbelievable. I can’t really blame John because he’s under instructions on what to do.”

What’s left for Newcastle after Lee Charnley decision?

With Bruce, Ashley and Charnley gone, nearly everything wrong about the old regime has been stripped away, except for one thing.

The horrendous Sports Direct advertisements littered around St James’ Park.

The sooner Amanda Staveley manages to get rid of them, the better.

On that topic, the 48-year-old admitted she hates the Sports Direct branding, and wants it gone before the end of November (The Times).

For now, let’s see how the Newcastle fans on Twitter reacted to Taylor’s comment…
