Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has named Luis Diaz as his Premier League Signing of the Season.
Some absolutely massive names were signed in the Premier League this term, from Cristiano Ronaldo to Jack Grealish, but according to Ferdinand, Diaz has been the best signing of the bunch.
Even though he cost £45m, Diaz is already proving to be an absolute bargain. He looks like a star every single time he steps onto the pitch for Liverpool, and he’s injected a new energy into the Reds’ attack.

Ferdinand praised Diaz.
“Listen, Luis Diaz, the impact he’s had at Liverpool. Especially in the forward areas, before he came we said that an injury would see the quality drop down dramatically, but he’s now vying to be in the first three. Firmino would struggle to get in there, he’s probably ahead of Jota now,” Ferdinand said.
“I just think he’s been a breath of fresh air, it’s not even on the ball, you can see with the ball he has the skills, he’s deceptive and he moves players, but his reaction when they lose the ball is unreal. He’s like a trigger to get it back, for those reasons he’s the standout signing of the season for me,” Ferdinand said.
Michael Edwards’ last hurrah
Michael Edwards has made so many good signings during his time as Liverpool’s Sporting Director, but he may well have saved his best for last.
Diaz looks like he could be a star for years to come at Anfield, and if he helps the Reds towards a quadruple, he may well be seen as one of the Reds’ greatest signings ever.
The Colombian has everything Liverpool want in an attacker; pace, skill, work rate and a brilliant end product.
Diaz may well be the signing of the season.
