Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan one aspect of Ryan Christie’s display against AC Milan – his crossing.
Neil Lennon’s side suffered a disappointing defeat to the Italian giants on home soil, conceding three goals at Celtic Park in the 3-1 Europa League defeat.
While there were a number of positives to take from the performance against a European giant in AC Milan, supporters weren’t happy with Christie’s dead-ball deliveries.
Their comments come despite the fact that the 25-year-old actually delivered the cross for Mohamed Elyounoussi’s goal.
However, the statistics reinforce their criticism.
SofaScore shows that Christie only completed two successful crosses out of an attempted five, while he lost possession 12 times in total.
Having said that, the man who cost the Hoops £500,000 did complete three successful dribbles, and won six of his nine duels on the ground.
Christie also got stuck in defensively with two tackles and one interception to his name.
Despite that, supporters can’t seem to get over his far-from-perfect set-piece deliveries from last night’s game.
In his defence, there’s no shame in having an element of your game be slightly off against such a good opponent.
Christie’s crossing may not have been too consistent, but without it, the Bhoys wouldn’t have scored against Stefano Pioli’s side.
