According to ESPN, Newcastle United want to sign Eden Hazard from Real Madrid.

Hazard may have had a few tough years at Real Madrid, but let’s not forget that he was an absolute animal in the Premier League at Chelsea.

The Belgian was simply fantastic during his time in England. He won the PFA Player of the Year award on two separate occasions, and one man who really rated him during his time in England was Alan Shearer.

Indeed, Shearer was once blown away by Hazard after a performance against Newcastle in 2017.

What’s been said?

Shearer was speaking on Match of the Day back in 2017 (via the Express and the Metro).

‘He was unplayable at times – he was just magnificent,’ Shearer said.

“Newcastle couldn’t get near him with his running with the ball or his running off the ball.

“It was just magnificent. When you get tight to him he can turn you, he just has everything to his game.

“He destroyed Newcastle but he will destroy a few more as the season goes on.”

Can destroy teams

Newcastle need a bit of a spark up top and Hazard would certainly bring that.

As Shearer says, he can destroy teams and that’s exactly what United need right now.

Yes, they need a strong spine going forward, but if they want a player who’s going to make an instant impact then they can look no further than the Belgian superstar.
