Reported West Ham and Leeds United target Eberechi Eze has ‘got everything to go to the top’, former Hammers star and England international Trevor Sinclair told talkSPORT (21 August, 9:00am).
It usually takes something rather special to outshine Kalvin Phillips and co at Elland Road but, in November last year, Eze did exactly that.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds might have ground out a 2-0 win in the end en route to promotion, but the England U21 international ran their usually commanding back line ragged during a first half performance full of poise, class and skill.
In fact, Eze was so impressive that, according to the Sun, Bielsa himself has told owner Andrea Radrizzani to bring the London-born schemer to West Yorkshire on a permanent basis.
Leeds are hardly the only club to show an interest in arguably the Championship’s most naturally gifted footballer, however, with West Ham potentially set to offer former QPR loanee Jordan Hugill in a player-plus-cash deal for the £20 million-rated Eze (West London Sport).
It is no secret that West Ham are prioritising young, hungry, homegrown talent from the lower leagues and Sinclair would be thrilled to see Eze join Jarrod Bowen at the London Stadium this summer.

“With young players, it’s all about getting that consistency. I saw him against Hull and he was a joke, he was go good… his balance, his strength, he was unplayable,” Sinclair says, referencing a 3-2 win at the KCom Stadium in which the ex-Arsenal youngster scored two stunning goals.
“If he can get that sort of performance more consistently, he’s got everything to go to the top.”
Sky Sports reported two weeks ago that a Crystal Palace side crying out for an injection of creativity have seen an initial £12 million bid rejected.
Eze scored and assisted 22 goals last season – just nine fewer than Palace’s entire squad managed in 2019/20.
