Speaking on the 1874 Podcast, Gregg Evans has claimed that Neil Taylor and Ahmed Elmohamady are likely to leave Aston Villa this summer.
It’s no great surprise to hear that the two full-backs are likely to be on their way out of Villa Park this year, after all, their contracts expire at the end of the season.
However, Evans has now said that they’re unlikely to be kept on beyond this summer, sharing that there are no contract talks ongoing with the with the pair.
“I think you know it’s long term planning for Villa now, they’re looking at the summer and what they’re going to do with potentially a couple of full-backs moving,” Evans said.
“Neil Taylor and Elmohamady are out of contract aren’t they in the summer, and there are no contract talks ongoing right now, so it’s unlikely that they’re going to be kept on.”

It will be a shame to see Taylor and Elmohamady moved on, after they played key parts in Villa’s promotion campaign, but the sad reality is that football clubs evolve after promotion.
Matty Cash and Matt Targett look to have the full-back spots nailed down in Dean Smith’s side, so there really isn’t much room for Taylor and Elmohammady at the club anymore.
Of course, things can still change between now and the end of the season, injuries or improved performances may force Villa’s hand when it comes to handing these players a new deal.
However, as things stand, it looks as though the pair are going to be on their way this summer.
