David Moyes has been confirmed as the new West Ham United manager, succeeding Slaven Bilic following his sacking on Monday (November 6).
The club have not revealed how long Moyes’ contract is and he arrives at the London Stadium on the back of getting Sunderland relegated in 2016/17.

Prior to that the 54-year-old also had difficult spells at Real Sociedad and Manchester United, although before taking charge at Old Trafford in 2013 the Scot had 11 impressive years with Everton.
It’s fair to say Moyes hasn’t been a popular appointment among the Hammers fans and it’s easy to see why, but how he starts could be key to success or not.

For example, with the Black Cats the former Red Devils was negative from the off with his outlook of what the Wearsiders could achieve, stating in his first press conference: “We’re not going to hide the facts, you’ve got to remember where Sunderland have finished the last few years – 17th, 16th, 14th, 17th.
“We have to make sure with expectations people realise we have been at the bottom for a long time and have to slowly make progress.
“Maybe at the start we will have to win the few of them a bit ugly. As we go along I hope it becomes more exciting. But I can’t guarantee that on day one.”
Moyes was certainly tempering expectations, but unfortunately that did not work as his team went on to lose 26 of their 38 Premier League games to finish rock bottom of the table.
At West Ham being positive could be key at a club who are also on the verge of the drop while his Toffees’ record still just about holds a little bit of weight.
