David Luiz had a stormer for Arsenal tonight.

The Brazilian centre-back picked up the Man of the Match award as the Gunners held title-chasing Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

Luiz, along with Rob Holding, was immense at the heart of Arsenal’s defence, reading the game brilliantly and getting his head on everything that came into the hosts’ box.

You could tell that the 33-year-old was on it during one incident in the first half, when he passionately celebrated deflecting a Bruno Fernandes free kick over the bar.

A strong performance clearly meant a lot to the Arsenal star – an £8 million signing in 2019 – and even some fans of the Old Trafford club were impressed by him.

Here’s how some of their supporters reacted to his display:

Luiz has never been an awful defender for Arsenal.

God knows he tries his best to make it look like that at times, but the former Paris Saint-Germain powerhouse certainly has more good showings for the club than bad ones under his belt.

On a night when Mikel Arteta’s side were lacking their captain and talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, their best winger Bukayo Saka and their most creative player Kieran Tierney, Arsenal needed Luiz’s leadership and he stood up when it mattered.
